What's the best thing about being a grad student here at the University of Arkansas? The small community allows for one-on-one mentoring. The professors know us by name and are truly interested in each of us and our success.

What's something people might be surprised to know about graduate life at the University of Arkansas? While all graduate students suffer from similar things, due to the job requirement, I feel I am much happier and less cynical than fellow graduate students at other universities.

Are there any faculty members you've had particularly good experiences working with? Almost every faculty member, but specifically Dr. Muldoon (BMEG), Dr. Zaharoff (BMEG), Dr. Balachandran (BMEG), Dr. Quinn (BMEG), Dr. McComas (Edu), and Dr. Chen (Chem).

What would you tell an undergraduate student considering UArk for graduate school? Make sure you make a list of the things you want to get from a graduate program, and try to determine which are more important than others. Email graduate students in the department you plan to apply to, and find out who the best mentors/researchers/etc., and/or who matches your research interests most. Remember that the professor you choose will have a big effect on whether or not you enjoy your time as a graduate student.
